Click Here for more devotionals!! "LOVE ONE
ANOTHER" Mother Teresa once said, "It's not how much you do, but how much love you put into what you do that counts." She was referring to the fact that love is a verb--an action word. You can tell someone you love them all day long...but when you show them how much you care, that's when it really sinks in! The greatest example of love in action is found in the Bible. John 3:16 states, "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life." The God of all creation removed His robe of light and wrapped Himself in human skin. The Light of the world entered a dark, wet womb. The One angels worshipped was birthed into the cold night and slept on cow's hay. He faced every kind of temptation, yet He didn't give in. He went to Calvary, took our sin upon himself, and died in our place so we could live forever! In other words, God loves you so much...He would rather die than live without you!! Now, that's love...in its purest form!! Jesus told his disciples in John 13:34,35, "A new command I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you... By this shall all men know that you are my disciples, if you have love toward one another." It is the Lord's desire for us to love each other the same way He loves us! He has commanded us to be role models for the rest of the world and show them what love is really about! In the book of Acts, we can read how the church was born out of heavenly power on the day of Pentecost and the members were so full of love that they voluntarily sold their possessions and gave to those in need. That is still God's desire for us today! How soon we have forgotten the words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 13:1, "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal." The size of our churches doesn't matter. The number of members on our roll books won't change the world. Until we learn to love and forgive each other... we're just making noise! In Luke 5:10, Jesus was talking to a fisherman named
Peter and he said, "Fear not, from henceforth you
shall catch men." It is time we stop having
lifeguard meetings while people are drowning in their
sin! We need to be willing to turn our pulpits into
fishing boats, our automobiles into ambulances, our homes
into shelters, our bodies into the temples of the Holy
Spirit, and our churches into hospitals where the souls
of men, women, and children can be changed by the grace
of God. When we do that, we'll begin to be the loving
role models God intended us to be!
